Conservation plan approved for "Chilika and Ansupa" lakes in Odisha
The state government on Saturday approved the 'Integrated Management Plan of Chilika and Ansupa Lake' for conservation and promotion of ecology of fishermen living around the two lakes.
Chilika Lake is the largest saltwater lagoon in India and Ansupa is the largest freshwater lake in Odisha. The 5-year management plan of the lakes is to increase the livelihood of thousands of fishermen dependent on two water bodies at an estimated investment of Rs 180 crore.
